Time for a short history lesson. Don't worry, it will be relatively painless.

The building that Shaddow Domain eventually inhabited for the first 14 years of it's life was completed in 1899 and housed the first Catholic Church in Idaho Falls. I believe I was told by my landlord, Dave Harman (Rosie) that his parents purchased the property in the 1930’s. He would tell so many great stories of his childhood growing up in the building and exploring the surrounding area of old downtown and the railroad tracks and buildings. It's amazing to think that this was the room that would eventually hold our weird little shop.

Below is some further information on the property, supplied by the Holy Rosary Church. The church had graciously contacted me at one point to compare notes so that we both could have the most complete historical information possible regarding the property.

I absolutely love old, historical buildings and the ghosts, in every aspect, that history provides. I don’t think our store would be what it is if it were in a strip mall, it needs the surroundings and comfort of age and history.
Next month we'll delve into the beginnings of our first website, how bad it was, how easy HTML used to be, and how to find archived websites that we used to look at a loooong time ago that are still just as traumatizing.
Till then, toodles!
Julie
