The Story of Shaddow Domain: Episode10 – Damn the Timeline!
Since we seem to have gone back in time and blown a hole in the sequence of events, let’s just stay on this train for a moment longer.
Two questions I get all the time are, why Shaddow Domain and for the love of all that is grammatical, why the two “D”s in Shaddow?
First, the name comes from the Type O Negative song Creepy Green Light from the World Coming Down album. This song includes the line “I find myself drawn to her shadow domain" and for some reason it just hit right. I’d love to use this song in advertising if anyone has an “in” with whoever owns those rights. (wink wink, nudge nudge)
As far as the two “D”s in Shaddow, I'm going to start with some unsolicited advice: before you name a business, make sure that the website name that you want is available. I didn’t discover until after I named the store and had the necessary paperwork that the domain shadowdomain.com was already being used. It didn’t even dawn on me to look. I couldn't remember what the original shadowdomain.com site was, but a quick look at the Wayback Machine at internetarchive.net shows what appears to be a German tech or office supply website, but that was eons ago. A few years back we were able to snag shadowdomain.com and now it points to the site with two “D”s for those unaware of the adoption of the twin "d", but we’ve become pretty fond of our irregular spelling, so it stays.
